What has most impressed is the power of people
Mali - October, 2009

Despite a culture totally different from ours, where family, sharing and respect for all are the priority, where the relationship with time has a different value, we immediately felt a burning sensation in usability welcome, intense and authentic cultural exchange with our guests in the smiles of children and their curiosity towards us, in the performances they gave us singing and dancing.
We saw the beautiful out of sand's Koro market gardens through the hard work of women of the Peasant Organization, we have seen the hands of spinners worn by the repetition of an ancient gesture, we saw hands deformed woman extracting peanut oil from burning pulp, we have seen in overcrowded classrooms where students without books, do their homework in the evening at the headlamp, we have seen throughout this desire to move to more resources, not for more wealth, but mostly to solve crucial problems: improving access to water, electricity, education, health, empowerment.
Of course we were impressed by the magnificent landscape: the savanna, the Niger River and its tributary the Bani, the majestic cliffs and Dogon villages perched high, the house Hogon, fields of millet, rice, cotton ... But what has most impressed is the power of people.
This trip has taught us not only a country and a people that we knew, but also about ourselves.
Sylvie & Patrick
